- Health Systems Trust (HST) is seeking a Data Capturer for the FRESH Programme, a busy clinical research and trial site located in Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The Data Capturer will collaborate closely with the Quality Control Officer (QCO) to assist investigators and the clinical research team in conducting sound, ethical, and scientifically accurate research. The FRESH clinical research team consists of 30 individuals, including physicians, professional and enrolled nurses, research assistants, a data management team, and recruiters, and is currently engaged in two SAHPRA approved clinical trials. Launched in 2012, FRESH is a clinical research platform that uniquely combines basic science investigation with an empowerment and life-skills programme designed for adolescent girls and young women aged 18–23 who participate in the research. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on funding.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a high degree of data integrity and completion of study documentation.
- Perform data entry for participant screening and registration visits.
- Maintain accurate records of screening and registration data.
- Perform daily quality control checks of paper forms (CRFs) prior to data entry.
- Identify missing data and ensure corrections are made promptly.
- Perform data entry into the REDCap database and Excel spreadsheets.
- Assist in preparing participant files and ensure confidentiality and data security.
- Key Attributes:
- Fluent in English and isiZulu.
- Proficient in MS Office programs, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and with a team.
- Education Required: Matric
- Qualification Required:
- Grade 12 certificate; advantageous to have a post-matric qualification in a computer-related field and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
- Valid driver’s license and confident driving skills.
- Experience Required:
- One year of experience as a Data Capturer; advantageous to have clinical research or clinical trials experience.
- Remuneration: A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications.
