Learnership Unemployed Programme

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is offering a twelve-month Learnership Programme opportunity for the Financial Year 2024/2025, inviting applications from unemployed candidates.

Position: Learnership Unemployed Programme Stipend: R3,500.00 per month Duration: Twelve (12) months Closing Date: 07 May 2024 at 16h00

Learnership Unemployed Programme: National Certificate in Nature Conservation Resource Guardianship Terrestrial (NQF 2)

This programme integrates practical and theoretical aspects, including structured work experience and knowledge with an accredited training provider, leading to an SAQA accredited qualification.

Successful applicants will be placed at various MTPA Nature Reserves, including:

  • Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve
  • Manyeleti Nature Reserve
  • Andover Nature Reserve
  • Bushbuckridge Nature Reserve
  • Mthethomusha Nature Reserve
  • Songimvelo Nature Reserve
  • Barberton Nature Reserve
  • Verloren Valei Nature Reserve
  • Nooitgedacht Nature Reserve
  • Mdala Nature Reserve
  • Mkhombo Nature Reserve
  • Mabusa Nature Reserve
  • Loskop Dam Nature Reserve
  • SS Skhosana Nature Reserve
  • Stekspruit Nature Reserve
  • Ohrigstad Nature Reserve

QUALIFICATIONS CRITERIA:

  • Unemployed South African between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
  • Must have Grade 12.
  • Attach Curriculum Vitae (CV) and ID copy.
  • Must be interested in working outdoors and doing practical work.
  • Valid proof of residence.
  • Must be residing in the Mpumalanga Province.
  • Not studying at any tertiary institution.
  • Not registered for any other learnerships.
  • People with Disabilities are encouraged to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assisting in the conservation of biodiversity on the reserves and conservation areas.
  • Monitoring and removal of invasive vegetation.
  • Assisting with tasks such as fire, rehabilitation and restoration, infrastructure maintenance, monitoring fauna and flora, plant propagation, and administration.
  • Collection of data to best achieve the objectives.
  • Interacting with community members, residents, business owners, and organizations to promote environmental education and awareness and involvement in the reserve.
  • Complete assessments timeously and in relation to practical experience on the reserves.
  • Attend training and learner support sessions.
