JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary goal of this role is to expand market share and optimize sales by leading the development of seasonal Visual Merchandising (VM) strategies. This involves nurturing the growth of visual merchandisers within the team and ensuring brand accountability through harmonious engagement with key stakeholders such as merchant teams, operations teams, marketing, and Visual Merchandisers in stores and at the support center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute the brand’s annual and seasonal VM strategies by maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders (merchants, marketing, operations, stores, and VM Team).
- Develop and distribute the brand’s annual and seasonal guides to stores, ensuring alignment with the brand’s strategy and direction, and ensuring compliance with required standards for mannequins and fixtures.
- Provide visual merchandising training, as needed, at store level to enhance visual merchandising standards across stores.
- Identify gaps in understanding of required VM standards and VM implementation in stores and conduct educational sessions, responding to Empower uploads, to enhance VM standards.
- Collaborate closely with the store design team, store design project team, Merchandise Operations Manager (MOM), planners, and marketing team to develop floor plans aligned with business strategies.
- Manage the end-to-end process of developing floor plans for new stores, revamps, and relocations.
- Coordinate and brief all relevant Visual Merchandise orders for new stores, revamps, and relocations.
- Mentor visual display artists, merchandise managers, and the wider operations team to ensure alignment of visual merchandising with the brand’s strategy at store level.
- Stay updated on global visual merchandising trends and adapt them to fit the Mr Price value retail model.
- Propose innovative ideas for new products/business concepts to enhance customer experience in stores through visual standards.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with the latest brand strategic direction to drive market share and maximize sales in stores.
- Participate in brand reviews and seasonal post-mortems with merchants to gain insights necessary for driving brands in-store.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Matric/ Grade 12
- Graphic Design Degree/ Diploma or equivalent Visual Merchandising Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in visual merchandising for an apparel retailer
- Proficiency in graphics software, including Adobe Suite (Photoshop & InDesign), Illustrator – Sketch Up is an added advantage, and Microsoft Suite
- Experience in Visual Merchandising and space planning in a retail environment
