Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure correct budget encumbrances
  • Allocate budgets accurately and escalate concerns
  • Develop and implement compliance systems for UFS financial policies
  • Ensure accurate invoicing for goods and services
  • Address discrepancies and queries in real time
  • Compile and present expenditure reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)
  • Manage purchase orders and requisitions
  • Implement interdepartmental debtor management system
  • Follow up on interdepartmental payments
  • Ensure payments align with contract stipulations
  • Monitor and renew contracts as needed
  • Liaise with Procurement for new contracts and Finances for service provider queries
  • Track and record invoices and credit notes
  • Maintain and audit asset register
  • Oversee procurement, marking, movement, and depreciation of assets
  • Conduct regular asset audits and initiate disposal processes
  • Manage finances for traffic section and petty cash
  • Audit traffic fine books and payments, generating monthly reports
  • Handle lost and found items and uniform distribution
  • Address insurance-related queries within Protection Services
  • Attend relevant meetings and create internal job requests

Inherent Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma/B.Tech on NQF level 7 or 3-year National Diploma on NQF level 6 in Financial Management or Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Computer literacy


  • Experience in the higher education sector
  • Registration with a professional body

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is R421 476.38 – R530 190.63 per annum, depending on the budget, relevant work experience, and qualifications.
