The Department of Health invites interested and qualified candidates to apply for the position of Security Officer based at Tara the H. Moross Centre, Sandton.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • 6-11 months of experience plus a security certificate.
  • Grade C and must be registered with PSIRA, with a valid PSIRA certificate.
  • Computer literacy and CCTV experience in a control room will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act No. 53 of 1985, PSIRA Act 56 of 2001, and Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS).
  • Preference will be given to EPWP trainees and administrative interns who served and are still serving the Department according to Personnel Circular Letter 4 of 2017.
  • Candidates will be subjected to medical surveillance.


  • Safeguard state assets, vehicles, employees, patients, contractors, and visitors.
  • Monitor and control the movement of patients and visitors.
  • Render escort services to staff members, visitors, and patients when needed.
  • Report all incidents/breaches in the Occurrence Book.
  • Conduct searches (i.e., people and vehicles).
  • Enforce departmental policies and assist nursing staff in handling aggressive patients if required.
  • Manage hospital security aids and monitor CCTV surveillance cameras.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies in the hospital.
