Transnet Freight Rail is inviting applications from interested and qualified candidates for the position of General Worker at Mswaneni, Zungwini, and Maqwabe in KwaZulu-Natal.

Job Purpose:

• Assist RME Construction teams during maintenance and construction works.
• Perform general worker duties to ensure work is completed effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competence Required:

• Minimum Grade 9 or 6 months of relevant experience.
• Physically fit (must pass a medical examination and be declared fit for duty).
• Alert, safety conscious, and able to communicate in English.
• Capable of working under adverse weather conditions.
• Willing to work extended hours on short notice.
• Prepared to relocate or work outside the designated depot.
• Able to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Health and safety conscious.
• Prepared to work in noisy environments.

Key Accountabilities:

• Perform tasks as directed by the Supervisor/Team Leader.
• Maintain punctuality and sobriety.
• Handle, load, and offload materials.
• Clean sites by removing weeds, stacking materials, sweeping floors, and disposing of excess/rubble materials.
• Use non-mechanized hand tools in the construction environment.
• Clean tools.
