Key Performance Areas

General Workers are expected to fulfill a variety of tasks to support the effective functioning of the municipality. Below are the key responsibilities:

  • Beverage Preparation: Ensure the provision of beverages for staff to maintain service efficiency.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance:
    • Clean kitchens, cutlery, and outdoor areas to ensure a hygienic work environment.
    • Maintain and clean tools and equipment to keep them in good working condition.
  • Safety and Equipment Handling:
    • Operate vector control equipment safely and effectively.
    • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety gear at all times during duty.
    • Keep vector control equipment clean and in operational condition.
  • Stormwater Management:
    • Maintain stormwater furrows, removing litter and debris to prevent blockages.
  • General Cleaning Duties:
    • Perform cleaning sequences, mixing, and applying chemical detergents for cleaning surfaces.
    • Clean tools and municipal buildings.
    • Use pressurized cleaning systems to clean tools and vehicles.
  • Public Space Maintenance:
    • Keep streets and open public spaces clean.
    • Remove animal carcasses from roads.
    • Clear waste products from supermarkets.
  • Road and Drainage Maintenance:
    • Maintain and repair roads and stormwater drainage systems.
    • Clean worksites, store equipment, and tools, and load materials post-task completion.
  • Instruction Compliance:
    • Follow verbal instructions from supervisors regarding work programs and cleaning priorities.
    • Perform any additional lawful duties assigned by management.
