Program Overview
The P1/P2 Workplace Program is a 6-month practical experiential program that provides students with the necessary work experience to meet the requirements for graduation. The program offers placements for the following disciplines:
- Metallurgical Engineering – Reference Number: 29936
- Chemical Engineering – Reference Number: 29937
- Electrical Engineering – Reference Number: 29938
- Electrical Process Control (Instrumentation) – Reference Number: 29939
Responsibilities
Participants in the P1/P2 Workplace Program will be responsible for the following:
- Engaging in a work-integrated program with MQA to gain practical experience in their qualification discipline at Glencore Wonderkop Smelter.
- Undergoing practical training and exposure at the company premises.
- Complying with the company’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) system.
Candidate Requirements
To be eligible for the P1/P2 Workplace Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Completed S4 theory component of the qualification at a tertiary institution and require practical workplace experience.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office packages.
- Proficient in English.
- Medically fit in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
- Knowledgeable about HSEC systems.
