Application Process
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the Pharmacist Internship position. To apply, candidates must:
- Complete a new Z83 form, available at any government institution or www.dpsa.gov.za.
- Submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a copy of their ID.
Important Notes for Z83 Form Completion:
- All fields in Part A, Part C, and Part D must be completed.
- In Part B, all fields should be completed except for South African applicants who need not provide passport numbers.
- Applicants should indicate “Not Applicable” or leave blank certain questions if not relevant to them.
- A CV is an extension of the Z83 form, and applicants are responsible for the information provided.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and must bring certified copies of all relevant qualifications and their ID. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Application Submission: Applicants should quote the reference number on the Z83 application form.
The Department reserves the right to place candidates where their services are needed most. The content of this letter should be shared with all fourth-year pharmacy students.

Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies
- Education: Latest results from the university or a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
- Registration: Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacy student.
Knowledge and Skills
- Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and report presentation skills.
- Technical Skills: Computer literate.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the Pharmacy Act (Act No 53 of 1974) and the Medicines and Related Substances Act (Act 101 of 1965 as amended).
- Record Keeping: Strong record-keeping abilities.
Key Performance Areas
A Pharmacist Intern will:
- Provide or perform services or acts related to the scope of practice of a pharmacist’s assistant (Post-Basic) under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist in a pharmacy.
- Perform services or acts related to the scope of practice of a Pharmacist for educational and training purposes under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
