Department: Social Science
The Social Science Department is offering various positions that will contribute significantly to the cleanliness, maintenance, and beautification of our city. These positions provide an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development while serving the community.
Position: Waste Collection
- Number of Incumbents: 65
- Stipend: R130.00 Per Day
- Duration: 24 Months
Waste Collection workers will be responsible for collecting and managing waste across designated areas, ensuring that the community remains clean and hygienic.
Position: Street Cleaning
- Number of Incumbents: 45
- Stipend: R130.00 Per Day
- Duration: 24 Months
Street Cleaning positions involve maintaining the cleanliness of thoroughfares through regular sweeping, litter picking, and ensuring that public walkways are free from debris.
Position: Roads and Storm
- Number of Incumbents: 60
- Stipend: R130.00 Per Day
- Duration: 24 Months
Workers in the Roads and Storm category will work on maintaining road surfaces and stormwater systems to prevent flooding and ensure safe travel for all residents.
Position: Water Management
- Number of Incumbents: 40

Water Management positions focus on maintaining and managing the water supply systems, ensuring that all households have access to clean and safe water.
Position: Parks and Beautification

Workers in Parks and Beautification will be tasked with enhancing the aesthetic appeal of public parks and gardens, contributing to a greener, more beautiful community.
Position: Facility Management
- Number of Incumbents: 20
- Stipend: R130.00 Per Day
- Duration: 24 Months
Facility Management involves maintaining public facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-managed for community use.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will engage in various duties, including but not limited to:
- Cleaning: Performing general cleaning tasks to maintain hygiene standards.
- Mopping and Sweeping: Ensuring all surfaces are clean and safe.
- Litter Picking: Regularly collecting litter from public spaces.
- Street Cleaning: Maintaining cleanliness on streets and walkways.
- Gutter Cleaning: Keeping gutters free from blockages to prevent flooding.
- Clearing Illegal Dumping Sites: Removing waste from unauthorized dumping areas.
- Separating Waste at Source: Managing waste effectively by separating recyclables from general waste.
- Other Duties: Additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Department or their designate.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for these positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Unemployed Status: Applicants must be unemployed and from indigent households.
- Preference: Given to youth, people living with disabilities, women, and residents living close to the areas to be cleaned.
- Educational Qualification: A Matric certificate is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Residency: Applicants must be full-time residents of Thembisile Hani Local Municipality.
- Physical Health: Candidates must be in good physical health.
