Saab’s Centurion division is searching for five talented Assemblers to join our team. The selected candidates will be involved in the manufacture, modification, and repair of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs), ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and precision. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

The Assembler X5 role encompasses a broad range of tasks essential to maintaining Saab’s reputation for excellence in the defense sector. Successful candidates will be responsible for:

1. Precision Assembly and Repair

• Manufacturing and Modifying LRUs and SRUs: The assembler will be tasked with the physical production, repair, and upgrading of crucial electronic components, ensuring they meet all required standards.
• High-Quality Soldering: Expertise in precision soldering is essential, as the role involves working with small components that require careful handling and assembly.

2. Equipment Maintenance and Monitoring

• Tool Serviceability: Monitoring the serviceability of all tools and equipment issued, ensuring they are in perfect working order to maintain operational efficiency.
• Inspection Standards: Regular inspection of LRUs and SRUs to ensure they conform to Saab’s rigorous quality standards.

3. Process Adherence and Documentation

• Adhering to Procedures: Following detailed processes and procedures as documented in the ERP Shop Order to execute tasks flawlessly.
• Documentation and IFS Management: Providing accurate feedback on repair details in the IFS Management System, and ensuring all tasks are appropriately documented and signed off in a timely manner.

4. Safety and Compliance

• Material Handling: Managing the shelf life of materials, adhering to 5S principles, and ensuring compliance with ESD, FOD, and other lean manufacturing guidelines.
• Hazardous Material Management: Safely transferring hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials for disposal, recycling, or reuse, in compliance with safety regulations.

5. Collaborative Problem-Solving

• Technical Troubleshooting: Identifying problems and potential solutions using technical knowledge and a methodical approach to troubleshooting issues.

6. Calibration and Testing

• Equipment Calibration: Ensuring that all testing equipment used in the assembly and repair processes are appropriately calibrated and maintained.

7. Clean and Organized Work Environment

• Work Area Maintenance: Keeping work and production areas clean, tidy, and accessible at all times, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

Candidate Profile

Required Skills and Experience

• PCB Hand Assembly: 3-4 years of hands-on experience in PCB hand assembly is crucial, with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Technical Background: A solid foundation in electronics, with a basic understanding of circuit diagrams and fault-finding capabilities.
• Electronic Test Equipment Proficiency: The ability to use standard electronic and electrical test equipment, as well as bench tools, is essential.
• Software Proficiency: Basic proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the IFS system is required.

Key Competencies

• Component Handling and Assembly Skills: Proficiency in removing and replacing components on circuit boards, and the ability to assemble and disassemble LRUs with precision.
• Special Processes Execution: Experience in executing special processes, including following detailed instructions and interpreting assembly drawings accurately.
• Drawing Interpretation: Strong skills in interpreting assembly drawings and circuit diagrams to ensure components are assembled correctly.

Educational Qualifications

• N4 Engineering or a Minimum N3 Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical qualification.
• Relevant certifications such as IPC J-STD 001, IPC J-7711/7721, IPC-J-STD-001, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 are highly desirable.
