Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the motorist role at Mediclinic Welkom is to provide dependable transportation and delivery services that support our logistics operations. This includes delivering essential items to hospitals and ensuring timely messenger services across our installations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Office Transportation Services
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting staff and documents between the corporate office and various Mediclinic installations. This role demands punctuality and professionalism to maintain the smooth operation of our daily logistics.
2. Messenger Services to Hospitals
Providing efficient messenger services is a critical component of this role. The motorist will deliver medical documents, supplies, and other essential items to our hospitals, ensuring that all deliveries are timely and secure.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Grade 10: A minimum educational requirement for this position, ensuring basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience
- Essential: A minimum of 5 years’ experience driving with a Code 08 license.
- Desired: Experience in driving passengers and holding a PDP (Professional Driving Permit).
Skills and Knowledge
- Road Safety Regulations: Comprehensive knowledge of road safety rules and regulations is crucial.
- License with PDP: A valid PDP license is highly desirable.
- Route Geographical Awareness: Ability to read maps and use GPS for efficient route planning.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Telephone Etiquette: Excellent communication skills for professional interaction.
- Stock Control: Basic understanding of stock management principles.
- Blood Bank Regulations: Knowledge of relevant blood bank protocols.
- Infection Control Principles: Understanding of medico-legal requirements, health and safety regulations, and fire safety procedures.
- Cold Chain Maintenance: Ability to manage and maintain the cold chain for medical supplies.
