Introduction
An exciting career opportunity is available at Mintek for an Enterprise Risk Management Intern. The selected candidate will assist the SHEQ & ERM Department in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and Policy, as well as other risk-related activities.

Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this internship is to provide practical work experience to students who have completed their degrees. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) within a leading organization in the mining and quarrying industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Assessments: Assist in conducting risk assessments to identify potential risks within Mintek.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data to evaluate the likelihood and impact of identified risks.
- Risk Mitigation: Assist in the development of risk mitigation strategies and action plans, and monitor their implementation.
- Reporting: Prepare reports for management based on data analysis related to risks.
- Research: Conduct research on industry best practices in risk management and benchmark Mintek’s processes against industry standards.
- Internal Audits: Support internal audits related to risk management.
- Training Programs: Assist in the development and delivery of training programs focused on risk management.
- Risk Awareness: Promote a culture of risk awareness and management within the organization.
- Project Support: Support various risk management projects and initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of risk assessments, mitigation plans, and other relevant documentation, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within Mintek’s risk management practices.
Job Knowledge and Skills Required
- ERM Knowledge: Understanding of ERM frameworks, policies, and risk governance.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in ERM software solutions is an advantage.
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Mindset: Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF level 7) in Commerce, Finance & Accounting, or Risk Management.
- Academic Record: Excellent academic record with a minimum 60% average.

This internship opportunity is open to South African citizens only. Successful candidates must arrange their own accommodation near Mintek and manage their own travel arrangements. Candidates should also be prepared to undergo psychometric testing.
