Job Purpose

The role of the ATM Custodian is to ensure that all Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are fully functional. This includes monitoring and maintaining ATM availability in line with specified Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to meet both internal and external customer service objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Service Delivery Management: Provide first-line and after-hours support on a seven-day standby week, ensuring adherence to SLAs.
  • Customer Service Improvement: Enhance customer satisfaction by providing timely feedback and follow-up on ATM image and availability.
  • ATM Maintenance: Ensure ATM functionality by replenishing cash and stationery and addressing device issues according to SLAs.
  • Internal Relationships: Foster strong internal relationships by sharing feedback and participating in knowledge-sharing sessions with stakeholders.
  • Vendor and Supplier Relations: Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers by adhering to SLAs and internal processes.
  • Daily Cash Balancing: Provide accurate results by balancing ATM cash on a daily basis.
  • Audit Compliance: Ensure monthly audits are completed according to Nedbank’s processes and compliance requirements.
  • ATM Monitoring: Monitor ATM cash and stationery levels by regularly checking notifications.
  • Uptime Measurement: Measure ATM availability through reports and benchmark percentage uptime, including downtime due to mechanical issues.
  • Technical Issue Resolution: Ensure technical problems are resolved by logging maintenance calls with relevant vendors.
  • Response Time Adherence: Meet SLAs by responding to out-of-service ATMs within one hour.
  • Governance Compliance: Comply with legislative and audit requirements, as well as internal policies and processes, for ATM operations.
  • Risk Mitigation: Report any deviations from standard operations to management to mitigate risks.
  • Service Failure Escalation: Escalate service failures to the line manager as necessary.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed about legislative and industry changes by reading relevant newsletters, websites, and attending sessions.

Essential Qualifications – NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

Minimum Experience Level

  • 1 year experience in handling bulk cash within a retail or banking environment.
