Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for a 12-month Internship Programme for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Directorate of Student Development and Support (SDS)

The Directorate of Student Development and Support at TUT is offering four internship positions in Counselling Psychology at the Pretoria Campus. These internships, starting on January 2, 2025, will provide valuable hands-on experience in a supportive academic environment.

Application Instructions

Applicants must submit the following along with their CVs:

  • Recently certified copies of qualifications
  • Certified copies of identity documents

Note: Failure to comply with these instructions will result in disqualification. Candidates may also be required to make a presentation or undergo competency testing.

Critical Performance Areas

  • Provide professional and competent counselling services to TUT students.
  • Support and develop both the academic and personal skills of students.
  • Participate in various psycho-educational programs, presentations, and training.
  • Conduct Life Skills classes as part of psycho-educational efforts.
  • Offer individual and group counselling services to children at a local children’s home.
  • Meet the administrative requirements of the SDS.
  • Work effectively within a team and contribute to overall team performance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently registered as an MA (Counselling Psychology) student at a recognized university.

Personal Competencies

  • Ability to work with individuals or groups.
  • Effective stress and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and facilitation abilities.
  • Proficient in counselling, mentoring, and providing guidance.
  • Capable of prioritizing, organizing, and taking responsibility for tasks independently.
  • Ability to contribute positively in a team setting.
  • Initiative, creativity, and innovation.
  • Proficient in presentation, speaking, and group facilitation.
  • Adherence to a professional code of ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
