City of Johannesburg Human Settlements Internships 2024/2025
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), through its Human Settlements Department, is offering internship opportunities for a period not exceeding 18 months. These internships are aimed at providing hands-on experience in public housing programmes and are ideal for individuals with a background in various built environment fields.
Internship Details
- Department: Human Settlements

- Duration: Up to 18 months
- Stipend:
- Graduates with a minimum of 360 credits: R9,531.54 per month
- Students currently enrolled: R3,500.00 per month
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (NQF level 4) plus a National Diploma in Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management (NQF level 7), or N6 in any built environment field.
- Enrollment Status: Candidates currently pursuing their studies must provide an enrollment confirmation letter from their institution indicating the need for in-service training.
- Residency: Only residents of the City of Johannesburg will be considered for this opportunity.
Key Learning Areas
Interns will assist in the following areas:
- Programme Coordination: Support and monitor programmes and projects under the Public Housing Programme directorate.
- Procurement and Compliance: Ensure that procurement strategies, building contracts, and tender documents comply with necessary regulations and administrative requirements.
