Job Description

As a Service Assistant at Econo Foods, your main responsibility is to ensure that all areas within the office are clean, organized, and well-maintained. You will be vital in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers, staff, and visitors. Your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will contribute to enhancing the overall experience for everyone who enters our facilities. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential for success in this role.

You will not only maintain the cleanliness of our offices but also assist in preparing spaces for meetings and events. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that the environment in which our employees and customers interact is kept clean and organized. This contributes significantly to our company’s mission of providing excellent customer service and an overall pleasant experience for both our customers and employees. The Service Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining cleaning equipment and ensuring that all areas comply with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Office Area Maintenance
    • Clean and maintain office furniture such as desks and chairs, ensuring they are dust-free and polished.
    • Regular spot cleaning of windows and window sills.
    • Empty trash bins and ensure proper waste disposal in office areas and common spaces such as kitchens and restrooms.
  • Restroom Sanitation
    • Clean and sanitize toilet stalls, sinks, mirrors, and replenish toilet paper and other necessary supplies.
    • Ensure that all restrooms meet sanitation standards.
  • Kitchen Upkeep
    • Clean kitchen areas, including sinks, refrigerators, countertops, stoves, and ovens.
    • Wipe down cabinets, wash dishes, and ensure that kitchen areas are organized and hygienic.
  • Floor Care
    • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all office areas, including reception, boardrooms, and restrooms.
    • Ensure all floor surfaces are safe and clean for employees and visitors.
  • Meeting Room Setup
    • Set up boardrooms for meetings, including the provision of tea, coffee, water, and snacks.
    • Ensure that meeting rooms are well-prepared and tidy before and after use.
  • Supply Management
    • Monitor and stock cleaning supplies, ensuring that equipment is in good condition.
    • Maintain an inventory of cleaning materials and submit requests for replenishments when necessary.
  • Collaboration Across Departments
    • Assist other departments as needed to ensure a seamless flow of service.
    • Work effectively with team members to meet customer needs and deliver the highest standard of service.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A Matric/Grade 12 Certificate is essential for this role.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, such as Cleaner or General Worker, is required. Candidates should be familiar with basic cleaning principles and company procedures.
  • Skills: Proficiency in maintaining cleanliness and the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision is essential. Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English are also required.
