About Nasi iSpani
Launched by the Gauteng Provincial Government last year, the Nasi iSpani Programme is aimed at addressing unemployment and enhancing access to job opportunities within the provincial government. This initiative specifically targets the high unemployment rate among the youth in South Africa.
Premier Panyaza Lesufi highlighted the severity of the situation:
“The province is home to 5 million young people, of which nearly 2.3 million fall under the category of Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET). In response to this alarming reality, we launched the largest effort in the country to combat poverty and unemployment through the Nasi iSpani Programme, creating job opportunities for millions of unemployed youth.”

As of this publication, there are over 100 job vacancies across various departments in the Gauteng Provincial Government. Premier Lesufi expressed confidence in the initiative’s impact, stating:
“The launch of the Hoi Hoi Gauteng Labour Activation Project is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to combat unemployment and create opportunities for our people. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to the prosperity and well-being of Gauteng’s residents.”
