About the Role / Purpose of the Job
The Maintenance Operator will play a critical role in supporting the maintenance team by providing effective assistance in equipment maintenance. The goal is to ensure the reliability and stability of equipment while adhering to safety and procedural standards. This role contributes to the long-term sustainability of operations.
Functional Responsibilities
- Accurately complete job-specific tasks and checklists.
- Conduct visual inspections of the working environment, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and reporting any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Codes of Practice (COPs) to maintain housekeeping standards.
- Work efficiently as part of a team, contributing to the achievement of team goals.
- Be mindful of how actions impact team costs and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Report all task-related activities to ensure transparency.
- Assist artisans with day-to-day maintenance tasks as required.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12/N3 Qualifications
- Maths & Science (Advantage)
- Valid Driver’s License (Advantage)
- Knowledge of the mining industry (Preferred)
- 12 months of experience working on conveyors in a plant setting (Preferred)
Key Competencies Required
Functional / Technical Skills:
- Knowledge and skills related to conveyors (Preferred)
- Ability to interpret written instructions and work documentation.
Leadership Skills:
- Self-Mastery: Demonstrates responsibility for personal growth by showing self-awareness, seeking feedback, and self-correcting to improve performance.
