Job Purpose

As a Data Capturer, your main responsibility will be to ensure that critical data quality dimensions such as validity, reliability, integrity, precision, timeliness, accuracy, and confidentiality are met. You will be pivotal in maintaining high standards for data collected at both facility and community levels. Additionally, you will support data quality audits and assessments to ensure compliance with required standards.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) officers, data quality monitors, quality improvement advisors, and district health information managers. You will help ensure that data capturers and facility-level staff are adequately supported through supervision visits, capacity building, and data quality assurance processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Capture data accurately and efficiently into electronic databases.
  • Work with health-related databases (experience in this area is an added advantage).
  • Ensure proper data management, verification, and accuracy across all records.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team, demonstrating flexibility and strong interpersonal skills in a diverse environment.
  • Strengthen and build capacity in existing health information systems such as EDR.Web, TIER.Net, DHIS, and HPRS.
  • Support Onsite Data Verifications (OSDV).
  • Provide technical support on filing systems and assist in clearing any data-capturing backlogs.
  • Review data extracts and provide feedback to improve accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with other data-capturing activities as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and district or sub-district meetings to provide technical support.
  • Undertake any other duties necessary for the success of the project.

Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
  • A post-Matric Diploma or Degree is an advantage.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in data capturing.
  • 2 years of office work experience.
  • Experience working with DCXR containers or trucks is beneficial.
  • Previous exposure to HIV/AIDS and TB prevention programs is an added advantage.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately, while managing time efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a focus on data quality and verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a diverse team environment, showing adaptability and open-mindedness.
  • Willingness to support health information systems and dashboards, contributing to program improvement through enhanced data visibility.

Additional Information

Please note that this position is based at Masiphumelele and Seawinds Clinics in Cape Town. All shortlisted candidates will undergo necessary security clearances, reference checks, and competency assessments.
