University of Pretoria: Semi-Skilled Worker – General Maintenance
The University of Pretoria invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Semi-Skilled Worker within the Facilities Management Department.
Position Details

Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Artisans and Artisans with design, operation, and maintenance tasks.
- Perform maintenance duties in compliance with statutory regulations.
- Operate specialized equipment and power tools as required by the University.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 10
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a workshop, maintenance, or manufacturing environment, or as a semi-skilled worker/artisan.
- Driver’s Licence: Required
Required Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes)
- Proficiency in operating relevant equipment and power tools.
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Procedures.
- Familiarity with materials, applications, sketches, technical drawings, and national building/engineering standards.
- Technical aptitude for using tools in repairs and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with analytical techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Self-motivation, discipline, and a customer-focused approach.
Added Advantages and Preferences
- 2 years of experience in a higher education institution.
- Relevant Engineering NCV Certificate or National Diploma (N6).

- The annual remuneration package will align with the candidate’s appointment level, as per University policy.
