The Legal Practice Council (LPC) is actively seeking to fill multiple vacancies in its National Office, KwaZulu-Natal, and Eastern Cape Provincial Office. Below is a detailed overview of the available positions and their essential requirements.


Position: Legal Officer – Regulatory

Provincial Office: Eastern Cape (East London)
Reference Number: EC06/2024
CTC Salary Package: R571,000 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 Certificate
  • Law Degree
  • Admission as a Legal Practitioner
  • 2 years post-admission experience in a legal environment, with at least 1 year in prosecution.
  • Experience in a professional regulatory environment (advantageous).

Key Knowledge:

  • Legal Practice Act, No 28 of 2014
  • Section 109 Regulations
  • Code of Conduct for Legal Practitioners and Juristic Entities
  • Knowledge of laws such as the Road Accident Fund Act, Criminal Procedure Act, and Labour Law
  • Understanding of LPC Rules, Court procedures, Law of evidence, and Financial principles.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in prosecution and writing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess complaints related to professional misconduct.
  • Gather and evaluate relevant documents for investigations.
  • Investigate within allocated timeframes and lead discussions on misconduct.
  • Present charges and lead prosecution in disciplinary cases.
  • Maintain thorough records of findings and decisions from Committees and Courts.
  • Handle appeals and coordinate the Disciplinary Committee’s processes.
  • General administrative duties.

Position: Finance Clerk (Debtors)

Provincial Office: KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg)

CTC Salary Package: R279,245 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 Certificate
  • National Diploma in Finance (NQF 6)
  • Finance NQF 7 (advantageous)
  • 2 years’ experience in financial administration.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Advanced Excel), Financial principles, and Accounting systems.
  • Familiarity with SAGE Payroll and Sage 300 Payables.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in multi-tasking and time management
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage filing and incoming calls for the department.
  • Assist in subscription payments and issue invoices for members.
  • Maintain updated financial records and handle defaulting attorneys.
  • Daily batch checking, invoice preparation, and ledger posting.
  • Respond to member queries and adjust accounts as necessary.

Position: General Worker

Provincial Office: Gauteng (National Office – Midrand)

CTC Salary Package: R188,053 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License with a Professional Driving Permit
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor tasks.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in time management and multi-tasking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cleaning and maintenance of office premises.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as filing.
  • Provide driver and messenger services.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and delivering documents.
  • Liaise with the Finance Department for vehicle maintenance services.
