The National Museum, Bloemfontein is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for their 18-month Internship Programme.
Position:
Intern General Adjunct – Conservation
Location: Bloemfontein, Free State
Duration: 18-month fixed-term contract

Internship Overview:
The National Museum, Bloemfontein is looking for a dedicated and motivated young graduate to gain hands-on experience in the field of conservation. The intern will be stationed at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum and will be expected to meet the following criteria:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must reside in Bloemfontein or within the Mangaung Metro Municipality.
- Applications from individuals outside these areas will not be considered.
Stipend:
A stipend will be provided based on the applicant’s NQF level.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Minimum Requirements: Grade 10 and NCV or N1 qualification in any of the following fields:
- Construction
- Plumbing
- Bricklaying
- Plastering
- Welding
- Electrical work
- Knowledge of general maintenance tasks, including proficiency with hand and electrical tools.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety standards in the workplace.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically capable of lifting heavy tools, carrying large objects, and climbing ladders.
- Hardworking, eager to learn new skills, particularly in relation to art galleries and heritage conservation.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work efficiently in a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors and during non-standard working hours when required.
