Position: Artisan Development Programme – Apprenticeship 2025
Duration: 36 Months Contract
Location: Louis Trichardt (Makhado), Limpopo

Introduction

SAFCOL is inviting unemployed youth to apply for its Apprenticeship Programme 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to build a career as an artisan. The programme will run for 36 months and includes both theoretical training at a recognized Training Centre and hands-on workplace training at SAFCOL’s Timbadola Sawmill near Louis Trichardt (Makhado).


Programme Overview

Participants in the Artisan Development Programme will gain practical experience in one of the following artisan trades:

  • Fitter & Turner
  • Millwright
  • Electrical
  • Diesel Mechanic (Motor Trade)
  • Boiler Making

Learners will receive a monthly stipend throughout the duration of the programme. During the final selection process, preference will be given to Previously Disadvantaged Individuals, people with disabilities, women, and youth from communities adjacent to SAFCOL plantations or those with signed social compacts.

Upon completing the required occupational knowledge, practical training, and workplace training, participants will undergo a final summative assessment (Trade Test) in accordance with the Skills Development Act. Those who pass the Trade Test will be certified as qualified artisans.


Requirements

To qualify for the SAFCOL Apprenticeship Programme 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be an unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Grade 12 is recommended (but not mandatory)
  • Hold a minimum of an N2 or Level 3 TVET certificate in the relevant trade theory
