About SAMRC
The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), through its SAFOODS Division, maintains and updates the South African Food Composition Database. The SAFOODS division provides food composition data and tools to clients including universities, research institutions, the food industry, hospitals, laboratories, and health professionals. This role focuses on administrative support for the SAFOODS office, with a focus on client services related to the division’s products, tools, and research.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and managing logistics and operations
- Manage the manager’s diary
- Perform office filing and minute-taking
- Support project administration and reporting
- Oversee and record food item records
Core Requirements
- Relevant post-matric qualification or training
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in office administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- 3 years post-matric qualification in office administration
- Experience with SAFOODS products and SAMRC systems
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in healthcare or research administration
