The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) is seeking qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position of Driver at its Non-Communicable Diseases Research Unit (NCDRU) in Cape Town, Western Cape. The NCDRU is dedicated to advancing the understanding, detection, prevention, and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a particular focus on cardiovascular and metabolic disorders in South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transporting research study participants
- Driving and handling biological specimens
- Managing the NCDRU vehicle fleet, including logging and report writing (using Word & Excel)
- Performing general administrative tasks for the project, including computerized systems
- Assisting project staff with ad hoc tasks as needed
Core Requirements:
- Matric certificate (Grade 12)
- At least 2 years of driving experience
- Code 8 driver’s license with PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
- Experience as part of a research project team, either as a driver or fieldworker
Advantageous:
- 3-5 years of driving experience
- Experience in research-related driving tasks
