About the Role
The Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for performing a range of warehouse administrative and operational tasks, ensuring accurate documentation, efficient handling of goods, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Administration
- Accurately consolidate daily warehouse PODs (Proof of Delivery).
- Promptly scan and archive PODs in designated folders.
- File PODs in relevant departmental folders for future reference.
- Resolve customer and credit queries related to POD documentation.
- Check and report on uncollected orders.
- Manage customer collections at the counter.
- Update the matrix with all uncollected orders and notify relevant parties.
- Report discrepancies and issues to the Warehouse Manager.
- Ensure 100% compliance with internal and external audits, especially when handling high-value items.
Picking and Inventory
- Assist with pick-and-pack tasks as needed.
- Help with inventory cycle counts.
- Pack parts carefully to maintain order integrity.
Dispatching
- Ensure all parts are packed in secure, professional packaging.
- Use recycled packaging materials to support environmental awareness and reduce costs.
- Verify that all shipments include the correct customer invoice numbers.
Health and Safety
- Use required PPE as per job requirements.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safety protocols within the Barloworld Group.
- Report safety concerns to Health and Safety representatives or Warehouse Management.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and ensure strict housekeeping in the parts warehouse.
Other Responsibilities
- Follow all warehouse policies for inbound and outbound processes.
- Maintain a safe work environment according to company safety policies.
- Achieve individual KPIs and maintain self-management and accountability.
- Adhere to all reasonable instructions and be available for overtime during peak periods.
Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies
Minimum Qualification:
- Grade 12
Minimum Experience:
- 3–4 years of administrative experience in a warehouse setting
Key Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Customer-centric with excellent administrative skills
- Basic computer skills, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure
- Strong multi-tasking, numeracy, and literacy skills
- Team player with a drive for excellence
- Ability to handle stress, work overtime, and manage individual performance effectively
