Position Summaries

1. Station Assistant: Sales and Customer Care

  • Department: Transport
  • Designation: Station Assistant: Sales and Customer Care
  • Salary: R12,620.43/month (excluding benefits)
  • Location: City of Johannesburg

Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 (NQF level 2).
  • 1-2 years of experience in cash handling and customer service.
  • Preference for Johannesburg residents (proof required).
  • Advantageous: Experience in a fast-paced public service environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-shift inspections to ensure smooth station operations.
  • Manage cash float, sales, and stock reconciliations.
  • Conduct customer transactions, such as card sales and trip top-ups.
  • Provide customer support and maintain stakeholder relations.
  • Ensure effective use of resources, inventory, and financial management.

Skills Required:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic math and First Aid knowledge.

Core Competencies:

  • Knowledge of sales/cash handling processes and AFC Point of Sale.
  • Ability to work in a team, with integrity and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to customer service principles (Batho Pele).

2. Station Supervisor: Station Operations

  • Department: Transport
  • Designation: Station Supervisor
  • Salary: R18,093.91/month (excluding benefits)
  • Location: City of Johannesburg

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12/Matric (NQF level 4).
  • 2-3 years of cash handling experience, with 1-2 years in a supervisory role (preferred).
  • Familiarity with public service environments is a plus.
  • Preference for Johannesburg residents (proof required).

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise station pre-shift inspections.
  • Lead daily operational and financial planning.
  • Manage performance and personal development planning.
  • Oversee recruitment, resource management, and staff performance.
  • Ensure effective management of assets, governance, and risk.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel) and Windows OS.
  • Excellent facilitation, problem-solving, and listening skills.

Core Competencies:

  • Understanding of local government and Rea Vaya operations.
  • Knowledge of AFC Point of Sale systems.
  • Commitment to teamwork, ethics, and health and safety standards.
