Job Summary
Nestlé South Africa is looking for dedicated candidates for the role of Hygiene Attendant at our Harrismith Factory in the Free State. This position is essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment in our infant formula production facility.
Position Overview

In this role, the Hygiene Attendant ensures our infant formula production areas adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards, reducing contamination risks and upholding product quality.
Key Responsibilities
As a Hygiene Attendant, your duties will include:
- Waste Management: Remove waste daily from processing, filling, and packing areas in line with set protocols.
- Vacuum Cleaner Maintenance: Regularly empty, clean, and maintain vacuum cleaners in designated areas per safety standards.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Clean floors, platforms, walls, and windows in filling and packing areas to prescribed standards.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to personal and food safety protocols, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Hazard Identification: Report any unsafe conditions or practices to the Team Leader, with suggestions for improvements.
- Support Safety Initiatives: Participate in safety programs and projects led by the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) committee.
- Equipment Safety Checks: Monitor and assess safety aspects of machines and equipment in your area.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to optimize work processes.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Identify and respond to potential issues that could impact product quality or operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Matric with Mathematics (A Diploma/Degree in Microbiology or Food Technology is advantageous).
- Experience: At least 2 years in a hygiene or sanitation role.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of basic microbiology.
- Familiarity with GMP standards and safety regulations.
- Ability to conduct disinfection and wet sanitization as required.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
