Position: SHEQ Officer

Reporting to: Risk Manager
Location: Ugie NECF, Eastern Cape

PG Bison is seeking qualified candidates for the position of SHEQ Officer in the Risk Department at its Eastern Cape location. This position is crucial in assisting the Risk Manager with maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OHSA, NEMA, and other relevant acts and regulations.
- Implement and enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Provide guidance and informal training to management and employees.
- Conduct SHE inspections and audits of forestry operations to identify and address potential risks, exposures, and non-conformances.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture and drive continual improvement of safety systems.
- Manage and update operational data on the Risk Software Platform.
- Complete monthly administrative close-out processes.
- Conduct incident investigations and prepare detailed reports.
- Coordinate Health and Safety Committee meetings, preparing agendas and minutes with the Chairperson.
Minimum Qualifications
- National Diploma in Forestry or a Risk/Safety-related field.
- Environmental Management courses (advantageous).
Minimum Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the commercial forestry industry.
Recommended Skills and Attributes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives under pressure.
- Strong administrative skills with a commitment to honesty and confidentiality.
