Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will perform the following duties:
- Access Control
- Manage entry and exit points at the operational areas.
- Security Duties
- Conduct patrolling, guarding, and escorting to ensure facility safety against unauthorized activities.
- Emergency Response
- Identify, respond to, and report security and emergency threats and situations.
- System Monitoring
- Operate and maintain optimal utilization of all security systems, equipment, and signals.
- Emergency Management
- Facilitate evacuations and perform emergency drills during incidents.
- Administrative Tasks
- Complete reports, electronic occurrence books, and personal pocketbooks.
- Continuous Improvement
- Enhance knowledge of security operations and implement advanced practices.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must possess:
Educational Qualifications
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
Professional Certifications
- Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) Grade C qualification.
- Competency certificate in firearm handling (9 mm pistol, semi-automatic rifle, and shotgun).
Experience
- At least 2-5 years in a security environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with applicable legislation, including:
- Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000.
- Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977.
- Understanding of SARB operational policies and firearm protocols.
Other Requirements
- Medical, psychological, and physical fitness to meet job demands.
- Ability to work long hours, shifts, and weekends.
- Professionalism, discipline, and adaptability.
Additional Attributes
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changes.
- Strong decision-making and action-initiation skills.
- Proficiency in writing and reporting.

- Capacity to handle pressure and setbacks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following will have an advantage:
- Completed NKP training.
- Completed PSIRA training.
- Exposure to physical and tactical security training.
