South African Postbank: Client Services Clerk (Fixed-Term Contract)

Position Overview

  • Position: Client Services Clerk
  • Reports To: Team Lead, Client Services
  • Business Unit: Postbank Operations
  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract
  • Location: All Provinces

Purpose of the Role

The Client Services Clerk is responsible for verifying and issuing bank cards to clients, ensuring secure and accurate processing in line with standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Setup: Pre-test assigned equipment for functionality, secure access to front-end systems, and report any issues to the Team Leader.
  • Card Stock Management: Record, collect, and safeguard all received card stock; ensure accurate tracking of stock on hand.
  • Card Issuance: Verify client identity, issue cards, and record each transaction on the system as per SOP.
  • Transaction Recording: Log each issued or transferred card, updating statistics on cards issued and clients assisted.
  • Customer Assistance: Address queries related to lost, damaged, or PIN-reset cards.
  • End-of-Day Procedures: Balance unused cards daily and return them to designated officials for safekeeping.
  • System Reporting: Notify the Team Leader or contact center of any system-related issues for resolution.
  • Daily Reporting: Submit daily reports and statistics as per SOP to the Team Leader or as needed.
  • Queue Management: Assist the Team Leader in managing queues at the collection point, prioritizing elderly, disabled, and ill clients.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
  • Preferred: Post-matric qualification with 120 credits (NQF Level 5, 6, or 7); National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6) is advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Client Services Consultant, Cashier, or in a customer service role is beneficial.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
