Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain the DAF unit, feather press, sump pit, and feather area.
- Ensure equipment is washed and promptly report any damaged or broken machines to shift controllers.
- Assist in inspecting broken shackles and yokes on the airline chiller during start-ups.
- Monitor machine functionality during production hours and report failures promptly.
- Replace plucker fingers as part of weekend maintenance work.
- Maintain all valves, scrapers, screens, and pumps in good working condition.
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the sump pit room, feather area, and water sieve unit for start-ups.
Minimum Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
- Must be physically fit to perform manual tasks and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work overtime, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Comfortable working in warm abattoir environments with strong odors (e.g., feathers, blood).
Skills and Competencies
- Understanding of production processes.
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures (PPE knowledge).
