About the Role
The Road Accident Fund (RAF) seeks qualified individuals to join as Driver/Messengers. This role involves securely transporting people, documents, and goods while adhering to safety protocols, traffic regulations, and scheduled work assignments.
RAF is dedicated to providing appropriate cover to road users, rehabilitating and compensating accident victims, and actively promoting road safety.
Key Responsibilities
Messenger Services
- Collect and verify correspondence from institutions.
- Deliver packages and documents promptly while ensuring proper handling.
- Reconcile deliveries at recipient locations.
- Maintain delivery logs and records.
Administration
- Manage copying, binding, and document archiving processes efficiently.
- Prepare and capture records for off-site storage.
- Maintain departmental inventory and file indexes.
Transportation and Operations
- Load and unload goods, materials, and staff.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, and traffic violations.
Record and Post Processing
- Register and stamp incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Sort and prepare documents for dispatch.
- Track correspondence and maintain records of registered mail.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Matric or Grade 12 certificate.
Licenses
- Valid Code 10 (EC1/EC) driver’s license.
- Professional Driver’s Permit.
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in driving/messenger services.
Skills
- Planning and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of road safety and vehicle roadworthiness standards.
- Proficiency in managing goods and documentation.
- Strong client service orientation.
Additional Information
- Remuneration: RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages. Successful candidates must structure their packages according to their needs.
- Vetting: Security checks will be conducted on all prospective employees.
- Foreign Qualifications: Must be evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
