Job Overview
The role involves responding to fire-related emergencies, delivering rescue services, and ensuring safety. Responsibilities also include maintaining firefighting equipment, participating in training exercises, and implementing preventative measures to reduce fire risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fires, rescues, and hazardous substance incidents.
- Provide emergency medical care and treat injured individuals.
- Operate firefighting equipment and extinguish fires.
- Participate in training drills and physical fitness programs.
- Conduct fire safety inspections and recommend preventative actions.
- Maintain and inspect vehicles, equipment, and protective gear.
- Drive and operate heavy vehicles during emergencies.
- Complete daily administrative records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Grade 12 (minimum).
- Certifications:
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 Certification.
- Firefighter II Certification (IFSAC Accredited).
- EMT Certification and First Aid Levels 1 to 3.
- Experience:
- 2–3 years of firefighting experience.
- Hazmat knowledge and experience are essential.
- Advanced driving experience is advantageous.
- Licenses: Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of firefighting systems and fire prevention procedures.
- Strong administrative and interpersonal skills.
Other Requirements
- Physically and medically fit.
- Clear criminal record.
Core Competencies
- Understanding of Hazmat guidelines and fire chemistry.
- Knowledge of the Security Industry’s code of conduct.
- Team collaboration and client liaison abilities.
