Position Details

  • Job Title: Data Capturer
  • Location: Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Contract Type: Fixed-term (renewable based on funding)

Purpose of the Role

The Data Capturer will collaborate with the Quality Control Officer (QCO) and the clinical research team to ensure ethical, accurate, and high-quality data management for the FRESH Programme. This team is dedicated to groundbreaking HIV research while empowering adolescent girls and young women (ages 18–23) with essential life skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high data integrity and completion of study documentation.
  • Perform data entry for participant screening, registration, and follow-up visits.
  • Maintain accurate logs for screening, registration, attendance, and related activities.
  • Conduct daily quality control checks of clinical research forms (CRFs).
  • Identify and address missing data in CRFs promptly.
  • Enter data into the REDCap database and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Prepare and organize participant files using appropriate tools.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ensure data security at all times.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate

Advantageous

  • Post-Matric qualification in a computer-related field
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
  • Valid driver’s license and confident driving skills

Minimum Experience

  • 1 year of experience as a Data Capturer

Advantageous Experience

  • Clinical research and/or clinical trial experience
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Knowledge of completing CRFs and managing data clarification forms (DCFs)
  • Basic understanding of HIV care, treatment, and terminology

Competencies

  • Fluency in English and isiZulu
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational and data management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment

Remuneration

A salary package aligned with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications will be offered.
