Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Competencies
- Grade 12 (Matric) plus a National Diploma in Catering and Hospitality Management (NQF Level 6).
- Computer literacy is required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of inventory, equipment, and stock control.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Knowledge of food service operations, including temperature control and hygiene standards.
- Experience in food preparation, presentation techniques, and quality control.
- Ability to handle cleaning equipment and safely lift heavy objects.
- Familiarity with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food handling.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Serving
- Preparing food for regular and therapeutic diets following standardized recipes.
- Portioning, serving, and packing meals according to ward diet lists.
- Assisting in packaging and labeling therapeutic diets.
Food Delivery & Collection
- Delivering meals to wards, ensuring proper diet-specific servings.
- Collecting empty meal carts after each serving.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Cleaning food service areas, utensils, and meal trolleys according to schedule.
- Handling dishwashing tasks before and after use.
- Managing waste disposal and reporting any breakages or faults in the Food Service Unit.
