The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) is seeking dedicated individuals for the Cleaner: Housekeeping position in Sandringham, Johannesburg.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning of offices, rooms, kitchens, hallways, and staircases to maintain hygiene.
- Vacuum carpets and conduct spot-cleaning as needed.
- Dust, wipe, wash, or polish furniture, ledges, windowsills, cupboards, and shelves.
- Sweep and mop floors to maintain cleanliness.
- Wash dishes, clean fridges, and replenish kitchen supplies.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Clean toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, and hand basins to ensure hygiene standards.
- Restock consumables such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Set up tables, chairs, and equipment for events as needed.
- Follow health and safety regulations, ensuring correct use of cleaning chemicals.
- Report any deficiencies or requirements to the Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements & Key Competencies:
- Education: Grade 10 (Grade 12 preferred)
- Experience: 1-2 months of on-the-job training
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of health and safety protocols
- Familiarity with cleaning machinery, materials, and chemicals
- Ability to clean high windows and apply different cleaning procedures (e.g., waxing)
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective time management and communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
