RCL Foods is inviting motivated and qualified candidates to apply for the Fitter & Turner Apprenticeship in our Baking Division based in Krugersdorp, Gauteng.

This apprenticeship program offers hands-on training, industry exposure, and institutional learning, providing a solid foundation for a career in engineering and maintenance.


About the Programme

Our Fitter & Turner Apprenticeship follows a structured training approach:
Institutionalized Training: Approximately 20 weeks at the Industrial Training Centre (ITC).
Workplace Exposure & Training: Approximately 29 weeks in different sections of the factory during operational and off-crop periods.
Progress Evaluation: Each year concludes with a Mini Trade Test (Phase Test) to determine continued participation.
Final Qualification: The National Trade Test will lead to a nationally recognized qualification.


Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • N3 qualification (minimum requirement); N4 – N6 is preferred

Required N3 Subjects

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Industrial Electronics
  • Electrical Trade Theory / Electrical Technology / Electrotechnology
  • Fitting & Machining / Mechanical Technology / Mechanotechnology

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of successful completion of a formal Institutionalized Training Programme is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental Legislation & Standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain structural components of equipment.
  • Valid EB / Code 8 Driver’s License.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
  • Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, callouts, and overtime.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct equipment inspections to proactively address deviations, preventing breakdowns and quality issues.
Adhere to the maintenance execution process, ensuring work orders are accurate and complete.
Inspect and maintain drives, motors, belts, bearings, and replace filters as per checklists.
Repair equipment failures to restore functionality and operational efficiency.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
