About the Role
The Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison is hiring 38 Security Officers to support safety operations at its Head Office in Kimberley. These roles are essential to safeguarding staff, visitors, assets, and ensuring a secure environment on departmental premises.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: ABET / Grade 11 Certificate
- Certification: PSIRA Grade “C” or equivalent
- Experience: 1–2 years in security operations
- Additional Requirements:
- No criminal record or pending cases
- Physically fit and able to work shifts (including nights, weekends, and public holidays)
- Willingness to undergo security vetting
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of security laws, regulations, and procedures
- Public service regulations and Batho Pele principles
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Time management, problem-solving, ethical behavior, and reliability
Key Responsibilities
- Escort visitors and contractors on-site
- Operate metal detectors and X-ray scanners
- Patrol the premises, including parking areas, and report incidents
- Maintain accurate visitor, vehicle, and asset registers
- Prevent unauthorized access and enforce security protocols
- Ensure proper authorization for departmental assets leaving the premises
