General Worker – Limpopo

Position Summary

TETA is looking for a dedicated and professional General Worker to support its Limpopo office. This role includes administration, reception, switchboard, and housekeeping duties. It is ideal for candidates who are organized, service-oriented, and possess strong interpersonal skills.


Key Responsibilities

1. Stakeholder Support

  • Assist walk-in clients with information and guidance
  • Direct visitors to the appropriate departments
  • Communicate Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) activities to stakeholders
  • Collect and distribute meeting schedules
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of meetings

2. Switchboard Operation

  • Answer incoming calls and transfer them to relevant departments
  • Take accurate messages and forward them to the appropriate staff

3. Reception Area Management

  • Accept documents on behalf of the Chamber
  • Notify Chamber departments to collect documents
  • Log calls for phone system issues
  • Order and manage drinking water supplies

4. Office Maintenance & Cleaning

  • Ensure offices are kept clean at all times
  • Dust and polish furniture, sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and bathroom
  • Clean the fridge weekly and empty bins daily

5. Meeting & Boardroom Preparation

  • Reserve and prepare boardrooms for meetings
  • Tidy rooms before and after meetings
  • Provide cutlery, glasses, and water as needed

6. Intern Support

  • Train interns on switchboard operations
  • Encourage teamwork and support goal-oriented collaboration

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Qualification in administration/secretariat (advantageous)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a switchboard operator/receptionist
  • At least 1 year’s experience in housekeeping or cleaning

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of:

  • Customer service
  • Switchboard and telephone operations
  • Office hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Independent and team-based work practices

Skills Required:

  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Time management
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
