Main Purpose of the Job
To maintain a clean, hygienic environment within NHLS laboratories and provide messenger services to and from associated hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning of offices, kitchens, stairwells, and toilets
- Dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-cleaning
- Washing dishes and fridges; restocking kitchen and restroom supplies
- Disposing of general and biohazardous waste
- Setting up venues with tables and chairs as needed
- Collecting specimens and delivering reports
- Sorting and distributing internal and external mail
- Following health and safety standards and handling chemicals correctly
- Reporting maintenance needs to the supervisor
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10
- 1–2 months on-the-job training
- Experience in a laboratory environment (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning tools, materials, chemicals, and safety protocols
- Familiarity with hospital/laboratory layout
- Physical ability to clean high surfaces
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
- Attention to detail
