The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), under the City of Johannesburg’s Department of Public Safety, invites young, qualified South African citizens to apply for an 18-month Metro Police Training Program. Successful trainees may be appointed as Metropolitan Police Officers within the City of Johannesburg.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

Be a South African citizen.
Be between 18 and 35 years old.
Have a valid Senior Certificate (Grade 12 / NQF Level 4).
Reside within the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (proof required).
Possess a valid driver’s license (minimum Code B; no learner’s licenses).
Have no criminal record (criminal background and biometric checks will be conducted).
Be medically fit (submit a medical certificate).
Pass a pre-training physical fitness assessment.
Be free from civil judgments related to fraud or corruption.
Be proficient in English.
Be willing to carry a firearm and wear a uniform.
Be prepared to undergo vetting procedures.
