AfriSam is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Superintendent to lead and manage all electrical and mechanical maintenance activities at our Roodepoort Plant in Gauteng. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all electrical and mechanical maintenance operations.
- Ensure safe and efficient maintenance of MV (up to 11kV) and LV switchgear, transformers, motors, and power distribution systems.
- Develop, implement, and optimize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Apply and oversee precision corrective maintenance practices.
- Analyze maintenance data for technical reporting and informed decision-making.
- Participate in reliability improvement programs (e.g., FRACAS, RCA, RCFA).
- Lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, Occupational Safety Act, and MV safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate data in Preventive Maintenance Management Systems, CMMS, and associated databases.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Option 1 (Preferred):
- N5 qualification with a recognized Electrical or Millwright trade certificate
- 10+ years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment (cement plant experience advantageous)
Option 2:
- Qualified Electrical or Millwright Artisan with MV/LV (up to 11kV) certification
- 10+ years’ experience in Preventive and Precision Corrective Maintenance in an industrial environment
Additional Requirements:
- In-depth understanding of rotating equipment, gearboxes, lubrication analysis, and fault diagnostics
- Experience in cement plant maintenance is a strong advantage
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient in CMMS (preferably SAP)
- Strong leadership and multidisciplinary team management skills
- Solid grasp of operation maintenance strategies
- Computer literacy and technical reporting proficiency
