Temporary Examination Assistant & Quality Assurer Positions — 2025 Examination Cycle

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) invites applications for temporary Examination Assistant and Quality Assurer positions for the 2025 examination cycle. These roles provide valuable experience in the education sector, particularly for students, unemployed graduates, and individuals with relevant qualifications.

Examination Assistant Positions (294 Vacancies)

Main Responsibilities:

Receive, check, control, scan, and pack exam scripts daily
Verify batch details (scripts, marksheets) per subject, paper, and session
Resolve discrepancies in scripts/marksheets
Ensure bags include MP flow control lists and correct labelling (colour-coded)
Create files for marking centres and assist in dispatching scripts
Archive scripts after marking for retrieval
Receive and archive marked scripts at Head Office

General Requirements (Both Positions)

Education: Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / NSC Vocational (Matric)
Eligibility:
- Registered tertiary students (preferably 2nd year or above), OR
- Unemployed persons with one or more tertiary qualifications, OR
- Unemployed graduates
Skills:
- Strong numerical ability (Math/Math Literacy at Grade 12 level)
- Advantageous: prior experience as Examination Assistant/Quality Assurer
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure

Exclusions:

Persons writing the NSC/Senior Certificate/AET exams in 2025
Persons who took the VSP or are currently employed elsewhere

Remuneration

Paid according to applicable Personnel Administrative Measures (PAM) rates
