What Does a General Worker Do at ERWAT?
A Day in the Life
As a general worker in ERWAT’s Operations Department, you will ensure our facilities operate efficiently and effectively. Your role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment, essential for team well-being and the integrity of our water care operations.
Job Responsibilities
Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks across all facilities, including:
- Offices: Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Kitchens: Ensure hygienic food preparation areas.
- Change Rooms: Keep sanitary employee change rooms.
- Control Rooms: Maintain dust-free environments for sensitive equipment.
- Ablution Facilities: Clean and stock restrooms and sanitation areas.
- Surrounding Grounds: Maintain lawns, gardens, and walkways.
Key Performance Areas
- Daily housekeeping and equipment maintenance at the treatment plant.
- Prevent clogging of treatment units to maintain process efficiency.
- Proper sludge application according to procedures.
- Adhere to safety rules and protocols strictly.
- Clean pump stations and other operations/process units.
- Regular removal and disposal of inlet screens.
- Remove algae growth and debris from equipment and treatment units.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 8 (NQF Level 2) or N1 Qualification (NQF Level 2).
