Requirements

• Qualification at NQF Level 4, as recognized by SAQA.

Key Skills and Knowledge

• Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
• Operation of road machinery
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures
• Familiarity with work procedures related to the road environment
• Strong decision-making, creativity, communication, planning, organising skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team

Duties

• Carry out routine road maintenance and construction tasks, including building culverts and side drains, and erecting steel guardrails and gabions
• Maintain roads, sidewalks, and resting areas
• Perform surfacing and pothole repairs
• Install road fencing, pipes, road markings, studs, signs, and distance markers
• Barricade work zones, crush road materials, and clear vegetation
