Key Performance Areas
As a Learner Firefighter, your duties will include:
- Firefighting & Rescue Operations: Responding to emergencies and performing firefighting and rescue duties under pressure.
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining firefighting equipment and vehicles.
- Fire Prevention Campaigns: Assisting in public education and fire safety awareness initiatives.
- Fire Station Maintenance: Ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Control Room Support: Assisting with emergency calls and dispatch operations when needed.
- Training & Drills: Participating in ongoing training sessions to build skills and maintain operational readiness.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Valid Driver’s Licence – advantageous but not mandatory.
- Clean Criminal Record (SAP69).
- Willingness to Work Shifts: Including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Physical Fitness: Must pass a fitness evaluation test assessing strength, endurance, agility, and stamina.
Remuneration & Benefits
- Salary Scale: R214,584 – R241,116 per annum
- Benefits: As applicable to a Category B Local Authority, including pension fund, medical aid, housing allowance, and more per municipal policy.
