About the Role
Are you passionate about customer service and thrive in a fast-paced environment? The City of Johannesburg is hiring a Station Assistant to support the Scheduled Public Transport Operations and Control team within the Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit system.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who meet the following requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (NQF Level 2)
- 0–2 years of experience in:
- Cash handling
- Customer service
- Basic numeracy skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures
Added Advantages
- Knowledge of AFC Point of Sale systems
- Experience in public service under pressure
- Residency within the City of Johannesburg (proof required)
Key Responsibilities
As a Station Assistant, you will serve as the face of Rea Vaya. Duties include:
- Conducting pre-shift station inspections
- Selling cards and processing trip top-ups
- Handling cash, reconciling floats and stock
- Managing sales-related banking processes
- Providing professional customer service
- Resolving customer inquiries and complaints
- Monitoring station resources and assets
- Assisting with inventory and financial records
- Completing administrative and reporting tasks
- Building positive relationships with stakeholders
