Role Overview

As a General Worker (Flume Operator), you will play a vital role in supporting production processes. You will ensure that production lines are supplied with the required products, maintain compliance with safety regulations, and contribute to quality control processes. Collaboration with operators, cookers, and seamers will be essential to maintaining smooth workflows and adherence to food safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

Chemical Handling and Testing

  • Accurately dose and test chemical concentrations to meet production standards.
  • Monitor chemical levels and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Maintain records of chemical usage in line with safety standards.

Production Line Support

  • Distribute raw materials and products to production lines.
  • Ensure a steady supply to meet operational demands.
  • Identify and report discrepancies that may disrupt workflow.

Quality Control Documentation

  • Complete all QC (Quality Control) documents accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor product quality during production.
  • Support continuous improvement by reporting issues affecting standards.

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all company safety regulations and policies.
  • Wear and maintain correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Raise SROs (Safety-Related Observations) for proactive hazard management.
  • Support MECP (Minimum Environmental Compliance Practices).

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards.
  • Apply 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Promote a culture of efficiency and improvement.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with operators, cookers, seamers, and supervisors.
  • Contribute in meetings on safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support training initiatives for colleagues and new staff.

Skills and Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Follow strict chemical dosing and QC procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Clear, professional engagement with teams.
  • Technical Awareness: Basic knowledge of chemical handling and production operations.
  • Team Player: Collaborative approach with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Problem-Solving: Spot risks or inefficiencies and escalate effectively.
  • Adaptability: Operate in a fast-paced, changing production environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
  • Experience in manufacturing or production (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and PPE usage.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime if required.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual factory tasks.
